Lakhdar Brahimi (Algerian pronunciation: [læxdˤɑr bræhiːmi]; Arabic: الأخضر الإبراهيمي; al-Akhḍar al-Ibrāhīmi; born 1 January ) is an Algerian United Nations diplomat who served as the United Nations and Arab League Special Envoy to Syria until 14 May [1].Brahimi was appointed U.N. Lakhdar Brahimi has worked to resolve conflict and build peace in some of the most troubled regions in the world. He led the United Nations Observer Mission during the democratic elections in South Africa that brought Nelson Mandela to power. He was sent to help end.
